Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechatronics Technician – Automated Systems to join our team in Mackay. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex automated systems, robotics, and integrated control systems across our mining and port operations. You will play a vital part in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of our advanced machinery, contributing directly to our operational excellence and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on automated systems, including PLCs, SCADA, robotics, and industrial networks.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues in automated equipment.
- Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components, sensors, actuators, and control devices.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new automated machinery and systems.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs to facilitate maintenance and repair tasks.
- Implement software and hardware upgrades for control systems.
- Document maintenance activities, fault findings, and repair solutions accurately.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, contributing to a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to optimize system performance and efficiency.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI/SCADA systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation principles and control systems.
- Competence in diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Experience with industrial robotics and motion control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification or Associate's Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- Certification in specific PLC platforms (e.g., Rockwell Automation, Siemens Certified).
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
- Experience with vision systems and sensor technologies.
- Confined Space and Working at Heights certifications.
