Job Description
Are you passionate about animals and looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference? Vets4Pets Liverpool is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our friendly team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of our boarding and hospitalized animals, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. Key Responsibilities
- Daily feeding and watering of animals according to specific dietary requirements.
- Cleaning and sanitizing kennels, runs, and common areas to the highest standards of hygiene.
- Monitoring animal behavior, appetite, and waste elimination, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Providing exercise, enrichment, and social interaction for animals under our care.
- Administering medications as directed by veterinary staff.
- Assisting veterinarians and veterinary nurses with animal restraint and procedures when needed.
- Maintaining accurate records of animal care, feeding, and observations.
- Ensuring the comfort and well-being of all animals throughout their stay.
- Handling laundry and ensuring a constant supply of clean bedding and towels.
- Interacting with pet owners during drop-off and pick-up, providing updates on their pets.
Required Skills
- A genuine love and compassion for animals, especially dogs.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina to handle large animals, lift heavy bags of food/bedding, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an animal care setting (e.g., kennel, shelter, veterinary clinic).
- Knowledge of basic animal husbandry and common dog breeds.
- Familiarity with animal first aid or CPR.
- Relevant certifications in animal care or welfare.
