Job Description

Vets4Pets Liverpool is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our friendly team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of our boarding and hospitalized animals, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Daily feeding and watering of animals according to specific dietary requirements.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing kennels, runs, and common areas to the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Monitoring animal behavior, appetite, and waste elimination, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
  • Providing exercise, enrichment, and social interaction for animals under our care.
  • Administering medications as directed by veterinary staff.
  • Assisting veterinarians and veterinary nurses with animal restraint and procedures when needed.
  • Maintaining accurate records of animal care, feeding, and observations.
  • Ensuring the comfort and well-being of all animals throughout their stay.
  • Handling laundry and ensuring a constant supply of clean bedding and towels.
  • Interacting with pet owners during drop-off and pick-up, providing updates on their pets.

Required Skills

  • A genuine love and compassion for animals, especially dogs.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to handle large animals, lift heavy bags of food/bedding, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in an animal care setting (e.g., kennel, shelter, veterinary clinic).
  • Knowledge of basic animal husbandry and common dog breeds.
  • Familiarity with animal first aid or CPR.
  • Relevant certifications in animal care or welfare.
