Job Description

Embark on an unforgettable adventure as a Jackaroo / Jillaroo Trainee with S. Kidman & Co. This entry-level role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in large-scale cattle station operations across regional and remote Australia. We are seeking enthusiastic and resilient individuals eager to learn the ropes of station life, from horsemanship and mustering to fence repair and livestock care. This program includes comprehensive training, accommodation, and meals, providing a full immersion into the iconic Australian outback lifestyle and a solid foundation for a career in agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily cattle mustering, handling, and yard work under supervision.
  • Participate in general station maintenance including fencing, water runs, and infrastructure upkeep.
  • Learn and apply safe horsemanship skills for working cattle.
  • Support livestock health and welfare activities, including tagging, drafting, and feeding.
  • Operate and maintain station vehicles and machinery safely.
  • Contribute to camp duties, maintaining a clean and organized living and working environment.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently in remote environments.
  • Physical fitness and resilience for demanding outdoor work.
  • Basic understanding of animal welfare or a strong desire to learn.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Australian driver's license (manual preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with horses or livestock (even recreational).
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience with basic vehicle maintenance.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor life and a respectful attitude towards indigenous culture and the environment.
