Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive IT Support Technician to join our team in Esperance, Western Australia. This multi-site role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems across multiple schools within the Esperance region. You will be the primary point of contact for technical support, responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, and providing essential technical guidance to staff and students. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for supporting education through technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line technical support to staff and students across multiple school sites in the Esperance region.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity problems (wired and wireless) and ensure reliable internet access.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and educational software.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions within Active Directory and other school systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and security patching for all IT equipment.
  • Provide technical training and support to staff on the effective use of educational technologies.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, support requests, and resolutions.
  • Collaborate with central IT teams on larger projects and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Adhere to departmental IT policies, procedures, and security protocols.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an IT support role, preferably in an education or multi-site environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi).
  • Familiarity with Active Directory user and computer management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Valid Western Australian C-class driver's license and ability to travel between sites.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional).
  • Experience with educational management systems (e.g., SIS, LMS).
  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment setup and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting Apple macOS and iOS devices.
  • Previous experience working within a government or public sector environment.
