Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Film Editor (Assistant) to join our dynamic post-production team in Battery Point, Hobart. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging talent with a passion for film and television to gain invaluable experience working on a variety of exciting projects. The successful candidate will provide essential support to our senior editors, ensuring efficient workflow, meticulous media management, and the smooth delivery of all post-production assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize, ingest, and log footage and audio materials for various projects.
  • Synchronize audio and video, and create multi-camera sequences.
  • Prepare project files, sequences, and timelines for senior editors.
  • Perform basic editing tasks, including assembling selects, rough cuts, and B-roll organization.
  • Manage media assets, ensure proper backup, and archive completed projects.
  • Assist with graphics integration, sound design elements, and color correction passes.
  • Export and deliver various video formats as required for different platforms.
  • Maintain editing suites and equipment, ensuring they are always in optimal working condition.
  • Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and other post-production personnel.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Strong understanding of post-production workflows and file formats.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Basic knowledge of video compression and delivery specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or diploma in Film Production, Media Arts, or a related field.
  • Previous internship or assistant editing experience in a professional production environment.
  • Familiarity with other Adobe Creative Suite applications (e.g., Photoshop, After Effects).
  • Experience with production asset management (PAM) systems.
