Job Description

Woolworths Group is seeking a talented Demand Forecasting Analyst to join our team in Shepparton. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving demand forecasts for a wide range of products, playing a pivotal role in optimizing inventory levels, reducing waste, and ensuring our customers always find what they need on our shelves. You will leverage advanced analytical techniques and collaborate closely with supply chain, merchandising, and store operations teams to drive efficiency and profitability across our large-scale retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts for various product categories using statistical models and and historical sales data.
- Analyze sales trends, promotional impacts, seasonality, and external factors to refine forecasting models.
- Collaborate with supply chain, merchandising, and operations teams to integrate business intelligence and market insights into forecasting processes.
- Identify opportunities for forecast improvement and implement best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare reports and presentations on forecast performance, highlighting key insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of forecasting tools, systems, and methodologies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in demand forecasting or a similar analytical role, preferably within a large-scale retail or FMCG environment.
- Strong proficiency in statistical analysis and forecasting techniques.
- Expertise in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R).
- Experience with forecasting software (e.g., SAP APO, Oracle Demantra, JDA/Blue Yonder, or similar).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a quantitative field.
- Experience with machine learning techniques for demand forecasting.
- Familiarity with inventory management principles and supply chain optimization.
- Project management experience in an analytical context.
