Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cemetery Grounds Assistant to join our team at Gosford City Memorial Park & Crematorium. This role is essential in maintaining the beauty and tranquility of our grounds, ensuring a respectful and comforting environment for families and visitors. The successful candidate will perform a variety of groundskeeping duties, working with care and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, weeding, pruning, and planting.
- Maintain grave sites and memorial areas with the utmost respect and care.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with the preparation of burial sites and placement of memorial plaques.
- Ensure pathways, common areas, and facilities are clean and well-maintained.
- Support the team in various projects to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the park.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Interact with visitors and families in a compassionate and professional manner when required.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of horticulture or grounds maintenance practices.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- Demonstrated empathy and respect for the solemn nature of the work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a similar outdoor role.
- Experience operating small engine equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers).
- Certification in horticulture or a related field.
- First Aid certification.
