Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Fashion Design Intern to join our dynamic design team in Adelaide. This internship offers an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional studio environment, focusing specifically on pattern making and studio operations. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced designers and pattern makers, contributing to various stages of the design process from concept to sample development. This role is perfect for someone passionate about fashion, eager to learn, and looking to build a career in design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior designers with research, trend analysis, and mood board creation.
  • Support the pattern making team in creating, modifying, and digitizing patterns.
  • Help with fabric and trim sourcing, organization, and inventory management.
  • Prepare design specifications and technical packs for garment production.
  • Participate in fittings, taking notes and assisting with necessary adjustments.
  • Organize and maintain the design studio, ensuring a clean and efficient workspace.
  • Support with administrative tasks related to the design department.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of fashion design principles and garment construction.
  • Familiarity with pattern making concepts, either manual or digital.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a fashion design program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with CAD software for pattern making (e.g., Gerber, Lectra).
  • Basic understanding of textile properties and fabric handling.
  • Portfolio showcasing design projects and pattern making skills.
