Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and engaging Museum Educator to join our dedicated team. The Museum Educator will be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating innovative educational programs and interpretive experiences for a diverse range of audiences, including school groups, families, and general visitors. This role is crucial in bringing Queensland’s rich history, science, and cultural narratives to life, ensuring an enriching and memorable learning journey for every visitor. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a flair for storytelling, and a commitment to making learning accessible and fun.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging educational programs, workshops, and guided tours for various age groups and learning styles.
  • Interpret museum collections and exhibitions through interactive and accessible methods.
  • Collaborate with curatorial and exhibition teams to create relevant and inspiring educational content.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of volunteer educators and casual staff.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and best practices.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
  • Represent the museum positively at events and outreach activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Museum Studies, History, Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in a museum, gallery, heritage site, or similar educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the Australian curriculum and educational standards.
  • Experience working with children and young people.
  • Ability to speak additional languages.
