Job Description
Join Rio Tinto as a Winter Intern in Supply Chain Management and gain invaluable hands-on experience within a global leader in the mining industry. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the efficient flow of goods and services supporting our large-scale iron ore operations in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning about logistics, procurement, inventory management, and operational planning. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with data collection and analysis to support supply chain optimization projects.
- Contribute to inventory management processes, including stock reconciliation and demand forecasting.
- Support logistics coordination for inbound and outbound materials and equipment.
- Participate in supplier engagement and procurement activities.
- Prepare reports and presentations on supply chain performance metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
- Adhere to all company safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A keen interest in the mining industry and supply chain operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with supply chain software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP).
- Prior internship or work experience in an office or industrial setting.
- Basic understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Availability to commit to the full duration of the winter internship program.
