Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Sprinkler Fitter to join our team in Port Pirie. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, and residential properties. You will ensure all work is completed to the highest standards, adhering to Australian fire safety regulations and Wormald’s quality guidelines. This role requires a strong understanding of hydraulic systems, pipefitting, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain various types of fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to determine system layout and components.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to specifications using various tools and techniques.
- Assemble and install piping, valves, hangers, and other components according to design specifications and codes.
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of existing sprinkler systems.
- Identify and resolve issues related to system malfunctions, leaks, and component failures.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards during installations and repairs.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
- Collaborate effectively with other trades, project managers, and clients.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service as required.
Required Skills
- Australian Sprinkler Fitter Trade Certificate (Certificate III in Fire Protection – Sprinkler Systems)
- Minimum of 3 years of post-apprenticeship experience as a Sprinkler Fitter
- Solid understanding of AS 2118 series standards and relevant building codes
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid Australian Driver's License
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Working at Heights certification
- Confined Space certification
- First Aid certification
- Experience with other fire protection systems (e.g., fire alarms, extinguishers)
- Familiarity with Wormald's specific product range and service procedures
