Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-focused individual to join our construction team as a Spotter in Parramatta. This is an entry-level opportunity, perfect for someone looking to start a career in construction, as full training will be provided. As a Spotter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment on site, particularly during the operation of heavy machinery and movement of loads. Your vigilant observation and clear communication will be paramount to preventing incidents and maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a dedicated spotter for heavy machinery operations (e.g., cranes, excavators, forklifts) to ensure safe movement and prevent collisions.
- Maintain clear and constant communication with machine operators using hand signals, two-way radios, or other designated methods.
- Monitor the immediate work area for potential hazards, unauthorized personnel, and environmental changes.
- Guide operators in blind spots or congested areas, ensuring safe clearances from other equipment, structures, and personnel.
- Assist with traffic management on site, directing vehicles and pedestrians as required.
- Report any safety concerns, near misses, or incidents immediately to site management.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety procedures and company policies.
- Undergo and successfully complete all provided safety and operational training.
Required Skills
- Strong commitment to safety and an understanding of its importance on a construction site.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear and effective communication abilities, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Physical fitness suitable for working on a construction site (e.g., standing for long periods, working outdoors).
- Must possess or be willing to obtain a White Card (General Construction Induction Card) prior to commencement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role or construction environment (not mandatory, as full training is provided).
- Current First Aid certification.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
