Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Part-time Farm Hand to join our dedicated team at Wyndham Fresh Produce Co. in Werribee. This role is crucial to the daily operations of our farm, involving a variety of tasks across different farming areas. You will work as part of a close-knit team, contributing to the growth, harvesting, and maintenance of our produce. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is physically fit, and has a strong work ethic. Previous farming experience is beneficial but not essential, as we value a willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting various crops.
- Perform general farm maintenance, including weeding, pruning, and irrigation tasks.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely (training provided where necessary).
- Care for farm animals, including feeding and cleaning enclosures (if applicable).
- Help with sorting, packing, and preparing produce for market.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of farm buildings, sheds, and grounds.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental guidelines and procedures.
- Report any issues or concerns regarding crops, machinery, or animals to the farm manager.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of farm safety practices.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to different tasks.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the farm.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on a farm or in a similar agricultural setting.
- Experience operating basic farm machinery (e.g., tractors, forklifts).
- First Aid certification.
