Job Description

Are you an aspiring operations professional eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic supply chain environment? Coles Group is seeking a motivated Operations Management Intern to join our Supply Chain & Logistics team in Werribee, Victoria. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside industry experts, contribute to critical projects, and understand the intricacies of managing a large-scale retail supply chain. You will be immersed in daily operations, learning about inventory management, logistics optimisation, warehousing, and distribution, playing a vital role in ensuring products efficiently reach our customers across Australia. This is an on-site position, offering direct engagement with our operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the analysis of supply chain data to identify areas for efficiency improvement.
  • Support operations managers in planning and coordinating logistics activities.
  • Participate in projects related to inventory control, warehouse management, and distribution network optimisation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including procurement, retail, and IT, to ensure smooth operational flow.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on operational performance metrics.
  • Undertake root cause analysis for operational challenges and propose solutions.
  • Learn and apply lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated interest in operations, supply chain, or logistics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior project work or academic experience related to supply chain or operations.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools or supply chain software.
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Previous experience in a retail or warehouse environment (volunteer or paid).
