Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Jetty Maintenance Helper to join our coastal construction team in Bundaberg, QLD. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to contribute to essential marine infrastructure projects, learn valuable skills, and work outdoors in a dynamic environment. You will assist skilled tradespersons and engineers in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of jetties, wharves, and other coastal structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the inspection and assessment of marine structures for damage or wear.
  • Support tradespersons in carrying out repairs, including carpentry, concrete work, and steel fabrication.
  • Operate various hand and power tools under supervision.
  • Clean and prepare work sites, ensuring a safe and organized environment.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment, transport them to designated areas.
  • Perform basic diving support activities if certified, or assist divers from the surface.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of tasks performed and materials used.
  • Participate in team meetings and safety briefings.

Required Skills

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of construction safety practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Current Driver's License.
  • White Card (Construction Induction Card).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a construction or outdoor laboring role.
  • Experience working in a marine or coastal environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., confined space, working at heights, basic rigging).
  • First Aid certification.
