Job Description

Nutrien Ag Solutions is seeking a dedicated and physically fit Farm Labourer to join our specialized Emu and Ostrich farming operation near Port Pirie, South Australia. This role offers an incredible opportunity to work directly with large, fascinating birds, contributing to their care, breeding, and overall welfare. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily feeding and watering of emus and ostriches.
- Monitor animal health, welfare, and behaviour, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Clean and maintain enclosures, pens, and general farm facilities to high standards.
- Assist with egg collection, candling, incubation processes, and chick care.
- Participate in animal handling, herding, and movement under supervision.
- Operate and maintain various farm equipment, including tractors, utility vehicles, and hand tools.
- Contribute to fencing repairs, pasture management, and general farm upkeep.
- Strictly adhere to all biosecurity protocols and animal welfare guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of feed, health, and production.
- Work effectively as part of a small team and independently as required.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding manual labour in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- A genuine interest in animal welfare and agricultural practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously when necessary.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures on a farm.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with large birds (poultry, emus, ostriches) or other livestock.
- Experience operating farm machinery (e.g., tractor, forklift ticket).
- Basic knowledge of animal health and first aid.
- First Aid certification.
- Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment maintenance.
