Job Description
Goldfields Apiaries is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Honey Harvesters for casual day shifts during our upcoming honey season. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are physically fit, and keen to learn about the fascinating world of beekeeping and honey production. As a Honey Harvester, you will play a crucial role in the extraction process, ensuring our delicious honey makes it from the hive to our customers. No prior beekeeping experience is necessary; we provide on-the-job training. This is seasonal work, perfect for those looking for temporary employment with flexible casual hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the removal of honey supers from beehives.
- Transport honey frames to the extraction facility.
- Operate honey extraction equipment safely and efficiently.
- Clean and prepare honey frames for return to the hives.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the extraction facility.
- Assist with general apiary maintenance tasks as required.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and food handling standards.
- Work effectively as part of a team in various weather conditions.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25kg).
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (hot, cold, dusty).
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agriculture, farming, or manual labor roles.
- A valid Australian driver's license (manual preferred).
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Comfortable working around bees (though protective gear is provided).
