Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and organised Government Office Clerk to join our team in Darwin CBD. This full-time position operates Monday to Friday, providing essential administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth operation of our government office. The successful candidate will be a proactive individual with excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail, capable of managing various office tasks efficiently and professionally within a dynamic public sector environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate physical and electronic filing systems.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and general correspondence.
  • Greet visitors, answer phone calls, and direct enquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare and format official documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
  • Order and maintain office supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Assist with data entry and maintain various databases.
  • Provide general administrative support to various departments as required.
  • Adhere to all government policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative or clerical role, particularly within a government or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with government record-keeping standards and procedures.
  • A Certificate III or IV in Business Administration or a related field.
