Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Urban Designer Intern with an Architecture & Planning focus to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of urban design, master planning, and architectural support within a professional firm setting. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sustainable urban development, community engagement, and innovative design thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior urban designers and architects in preparing master plans, site analyses, and design concepts.
- Conduct research on urban planning policies, zoning regulations, and best practices in sustainable design.
- Develop graphic presentations, maps, diagrams, and renderings using various design software.
- Contribute to written reports, proposals, and design narratives.
- Participate in team meetings, client presentations, and community engagement activities as required.
- Support project teams with administrative tasks and documentation.
- Perform site visits and data collection as necessary.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and Microsoft Office.
- Strong graphic communication and visualization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Basic understanding of urban planning principles, architectural design, and sustainable development.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, City Planning, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino, Revit).
- Prior internship experience in an urban design, architecture, or planning firm.
- Knowledge of local planning regulations in the New York Capital Region.
