Job Description
Are you passionate about working with children and love the great outdoors? We’re seeking enthusiastic and energetic Summer Camp Leaders to join our team for casual day shifts in Port Lincoln. In this dynamic role, you will be instrumental in creating an unforgettable camp experience for children, leading engaging activities, ensuring their safety, and fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who thrive in a lively environment and want to make a tangible difference in young lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and supervise a variety of age-appropriate camp activities, including outdoor games, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating enthusiasm, patience, and leadership.
- Promote an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to participate.
- Manage minor conflicts and behavioral issues with a calm and constructive approach.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Assist with the setup and pack-down of equipment and activity areas.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary (training provided if required).
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience working with children or youth (volunteer or paid).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership qualities and ability to take initiative.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable approach.
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a camp setting, childcare, or youth program.
- Relevant certifications in areas such as lifeguarding, sports coaching, or outdoor recreation.
- Tertiary qualifications or current study in education, recreation, social work, or a related field.
