Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced AO5 Project Lead to join our regional team in Wodonga. This critical role involves leading and managing a diverse portfolio of environmental protection projects, ensuring compliance with state regulations and delivering outcomes that contribute to a healthier environment for all Victorians. You will be responsible for coordinating project activities, managing stakeholders, overseeing budgets, and reporting on project progress to senior management. This role requires a proactive individual with strong leadership capabilities and a solid understanding of environmental management principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of environmental protection projects within the designated region.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and resources effectively to achieve project objectives.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry, and community groups.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and EPA policies and guidelines.
  • Prepare comprehensive project reports, briefs, and presentations for various audiences.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, and develop contingency plans.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations on environmental issues and project management best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior project team members as required.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices relevant to Victoria.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Experience working within a government or regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of regional environmental issues specific to the Albury-Wodonga region.
