Job Description
As a WFH Caption & Subtitle Writer, you will be responsible for creating precise and high-quality captions and subtitles for a diverse range of video content. This role involves listening to audio, accurately transcribing dialogue, identifying sound effects, and synchronizing text with video to enhance the viewing experience for our global audience, particularly those with hearing impairments or those who prefer subtitles. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our content is accessible and enjoyable for everyone. This is a 100% remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe audio dialogue from various video content into written text.
- Create synchronized captions and subtitles, ensuring precise timing and readability.
- Adhere strictly to Netflix's style guides, linguistic standards, and accessibility guidelines.
- Identify and appropriately describe non-speech elements such as sound effects and music cues.
- Review, edit, and proofread existing captions and subtitles for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Manage workflow effectively to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Provide feedback on tools and processes to improve efficiency and quality.
Required Skills
- Exceptional proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Outstanding listening skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Strong ability to concentrate for extended periods and maintain accuracy.
- Familiarity with standard word processing software.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home workspace.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in transcription, captioning, or subtitling is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with different captioning software or platforms.
- Experience working with style guides for media content.
- Ability to quickly learn new tools and adapt to evolving workflows.
- A passion for film, television, and global entertainment content.
