Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Junior Design Intern with a focus on UI/UX product design to join our dynamic team in Cairns. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, contributing to real-world product development. You will work closely with experienced designers, product managers, and engineers, learning the full product lifecycle from user research to final implementation. This role is perfect for aspiring designers eager to make an impact and develop their skills in a supportive, innovative setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior designers in conducting user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather insights.
- Contribute to the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and user flows that effectively communicate design ideas.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews, providing fresh perspectives and constructive feedback.
- Help refine and iterate on existing UI/UX designs based on user feedback and data analysis.
- Prepare design assets and specifications for development teams, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Learn and apply design system guidelines and best practices to maintain visual coherence across products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into intuitive user experiences.
- Maintain a strong understanding of current UI/UX trends, tools, and methodologies.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of UI/UX design principles and methodologies.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
- A nascent portfolio showcasing academic projects, personal work, or case studies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions.
- Eagerness to learn, adapt, and receive constructive feedback.
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes.
- Previous exposure to design systems or component libraries.
