Job Description

Are you eager to kickstart a career in the construction industry and learn a valuable trade from the ground up? Metricon Homes is seeking a motivated and reliable Tiler’s Offsider to join our team in Shepparton. This is an incredible opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with little to no prior experience to learn waterproofing and tiling techniques under the guidance of experienced professionals. You will play a crucial support role to our tilers, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the high-quality finishes our homes are known for. If you’re physically fit, a quick learner, and ready to commit to a hands-on role, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified tilers with all aspects of tiling and waterproofing preparation and installation.
  • Prepare work areas by cleaning, sweeping, and moving materials.
  • Mix grout, mortar, and adhesives accurately.
  • Cut and shape tiles under supervision.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organised worksite.
  • Assist with waterproofing application and preparation tasks.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines.
  • Learn and apply new skills and techniques efficiently.
  • Perform general labouring duties as required.

  • Physical fitness and stamina to handle manual labour tasks.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Eagerness to learn a trade and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Construction Induction White Card (or willingness to obtain one prior to commencing).
  • Valid Australian driver's license and reliable transport.
  • Prior experience in a labouring or construction environment (even if minimal).
  • An understanding of basic safety practices on a construction site.
