Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and creative Lifestyle Assistant to join our dedicated team in Cairns. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning, coordinating, and facilitating a diverse range of engaging activities and programs. You will work directly with residents, understanding their interests and preferences, to foster a vibrant and stimulating community within our residential care facility. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a varied calendar of social, recreational, and therapeutic activities tailored to residents' individual and group needs.
- Organise and facilitate individual and group activities, ensuring active participation and enjoyment.
- Encourage residents to participate in programs by providing motivation and support.
- Assist residents with personal care and mobility during activities as required, in collaboration with care staff.
- Maintain accurate records of resident attendance and participation, and document activity outcomes.
- Collaborate with the care team, residents, and their families to identify needs and preferences for lifestyle programs.
- Support and train volunteers involved in lifestyle activities.
- Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all activities, adhering to all WHS and organisational policies.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in developing and facilitating group activities, preferably within an aged care or residential setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, families, and staff.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- A creative and enthusiastic approach to activity planning and delivery.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and program planning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Leisure and Health, Individual Support (Ageing), or a related field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with resident care planning and assessment.
- Knowledge of dementia-friendly practices and behaviour support strategies.
