Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Library Technician to join our team at Arthur Phillip High School. This full-time, term-time position offers stable employment within a dynamic school environment, providing essential support for our library services and resources. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining an accessible and engaging library, assisting students and staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily library activities. This role is perfect for someone passionate about education, information management, and contributing to a thriving school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the circulation of library materials, including cataloguing, processing, and shelving resources.
- Assist students and staff with locating information, using library resources, and accessing digital learning tools.
- Maintain the library management system, ensuring accurate records of books, media, and other materials.
- Organise and maintain library displays, promoting new acquisitions and educational themes.
- Provide technical support for library equipment and digital platforms.
- Assist with the inventory and collection development processes.
- Support the teaching staff in integrating library resources into curriculum activities.
- Ensure the library environment is welcoming, organised, and conducive to learning.
- Assist with inter-library loans and resource sharing.
- Participate in library promotional activities and events.
Required Skills
- Certificate IV in Library and Information Services or equivalent qualification.
- Proficiency in using library management systems and databases.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, particularly with young people.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Competence in basic IT skills and digital literacy.
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary library practices and resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a school or public library setting.
- Knowledge of educational technology and digital learning platforms.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
