Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Second Hand Goods Sorter in our vibrant charity environment in Horsham, PA. In this vital role, you will be responsible for meticulously sorting, categorizing, and preparing donated items for sale or recycling. Your keen eye for quality and detail will ensure that our stores are stocked with valuable goods, directly supporting our mission to provide job training and employment services to those in need. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and organize incoming donations of various second-hand goods.
- Inspect items for quality, damage, and usability according to established guidelines.
- Sort items into appropriate categories (e.g., clothing, household goods, electronics, books) for retail sale or recycling.
- Price items accurately based on company standards and market value, utilizing provided resources.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sorting area at all times.
- Operate basic material handling equipment if required (e.g., hand trucks, pallet jacks) after receiving proper training.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and volunteers to ensure efficient processing and movement of goods.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies to ensure a secure working environment.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality items suitable for resale.
- Basic understanding of different types of goods and their potential value.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with a positive attitude.
