Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Medical Interns to join our dynamic team at Albury Wodonga Health. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience across various medical specialties within a supportive and collaborative environment. As a Medical Intern, you will work under the direct supervision of experienced medical professionals, contributing to patient care, diagnosis, and treatment planning, while developing critical clinical skills and professional competencies essential for a successful medical career.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist medical officers in the daily management of patients, including ward rounds, patient assessments, and documentation.
- Participate in the diagnostic process by ordering and interpreting relevant investigations.
- Formulate and implement patient management plans under supervision.
- Perform minor medical procedures, as appropriate, and under direct supervision.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records and progress notes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of patient care services.
- Engage in educational activities, including grand rounds, teaching sessions, and clinical audits.
Required Skills
- Completion of a recognised medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) prior to commencement.
- Provisional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a medical practitioner.
- Demonstrated strong academic performance during medical studies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., volunteer work, clinical placements).
- Evidence of participation in research or quality improvement projects.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- Demonstrated resilience and ability to work effectively under pressure.
