Job Description

Are you a budding economist with a keen interest in financial policy and its real-world implications? UBS is offering an exciting Economist Intern position within our Financial Policy Analysis team in Zurich. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in analyzing economic trends, evaluating policy impacts, and contributing to strategic insights for one of the world’s leading financial institutions. You will work alongside experienced economists and financial experts, assisting in research, data analysis, and report preparation that directly informs our business strategies and client advice. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and gather data on macroeconomic trends, financial markets, and regulatory developments.
  • Assist in the analysis of financial policies and their potential impact on banking operations and client portfolios.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials for internal stakeholders and senior management.
  • Contribute to the development of economic models and forecasting tools.
  • Monitor and summarize key economic and financial news.
  • Support the team with ad-hoc requests and special projects related to financial policy.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets and economic policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g., R, Python, Stata).
  • Previous internship experience in a financial institution or research-oriented role.
  • Knowledge of German or French is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
