Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Pigery Labourer to join our team in Bairnsdale. This is an ongoing full-time role, offering comprehensive training for individuals with little to no prior experience in pig farming. If you are passionate about animal welfare, eager to learn, and thrive in a hands-on environment, we encourage you to apply. You will be an integral part of our farm operations, contributing to the daily care and management of our pigs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily feeding and watering of pigs according to established schedules and protocols.
- Assist with the movement and handling of pigs in a humane and safe manner.
- Clean and maintain piggery pens, sheds, and equipment to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Monitor pig health and welfare, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to supervisors.
- Participate in breeding, farrowing, and weaning activities as required.
- Assist with general farm maintenance tasks, including repairs and upkeep of facilities.
- Adhere to all biosecurity procedures and farm safety regulations.
- Operate farm machinery and equipment safely after appropriate training.
- Maintain accurate records as directed by farm management.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly and supporting colleagues.
Required Skills
- No prior experience required – full training will be provided.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good observational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with animals or in an agricultural setting (even if not pigs).
- Current Australian driver's license.
- First Aid certificate.
