Job Description
Join the Petbarn Tuggeranong team as a Part-time Grooming Offsider and play a crucial role in our busy grooming salon! This entry-level position is perfect for passionate animal lovers eager to learn and grow in the pet care industry. You’ll assist our professional groomers, ensure a safe and clean environment for our furry clients, and contribute to a positive experience for both pets and their owners. If you’re reliable, energetic, and have a genuine love for dogs, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist professional groomers with bathing, drying, and preparing dogs for grooming services.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of all animals in the grooming salon.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards of the grooming area, equipment, and cages.
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and laundry.
- Greet customers and assist with check-ins and check-outs.
- Handle and restrain dogs gently and safely as required.
- Monitor dog behaviour and report any concerns to the groomer.
- Restock supplies and ensure products are readily available.
- Provide excellent customer service to pet parents.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and compassion for dogs of all breeds and sizes.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights, and handle active dogs.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Availability to work on a part-time day roster, including weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with animals (e.g., pet sitting, volunteering at a shelter, pet ownership).
- Basic knowledge of dog breeds and temperaments.
- Current pet first aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
