Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Cloud Security Engineer to join our Cyber Defense team in Gungahlin, ACT. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security controls across our cloud environments (primarily Azure). You will play a key part in identifying threats, responding to incidents, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure and services. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage security controls and policies within Azure cloud environments to protect sensitive data and systems.
- Perform security assessments, vulnerability management, and penetration testing on cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Monitor cloud security events, analyze security incidents, and lead incident response efforts.
- Develop and automate security tools and processes to enhance defense capabilities and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to embed security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
- Stay abreast of the latest cloud security threats, technologies, and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our cyber defense strategy and security posture.
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship on cloud security topics to other team members.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with cloud security principles and best practices (Azure preferred).
- Strong understanding of network security, identity and access management (IAM), data protection, and encryption technologies.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation.
- Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) and security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) platforms.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS, or ASD Essential Eight.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced incident response environment.
- Solid communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) or other relevant cloud security certifications.
- Experience with container security (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
- Background in forensic analysis and malware analysis.
- Knowledge of threat modeling and secure coding principles.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
