Job Description
Sims Metal Management is urgently seeking dedicated and reliable Scrap Metal Handlers to join our Manchester team. This is an immediate start opportunity with top pay for individuals who are ready to contribute to our dynamic operations. As a Scrap Metal Handler, you will be integral to our yard activities, ensuring the efficient and safe processing, sorting, and movement of various types of scrap metal. This physically demanding role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Safely sort, grade, and process incoming scrap metal materials.
- Operate various equipment, including forklifts, bobcats, and other heavy machinery (training provided if necessary).
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks and containers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on equipment.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve daily operational goals.
- Identify different types of metals and prepare them for further processing.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and a safe work environment.
- Excellent team player with good communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Basic understanding of tools and machinery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a scrap metal yard, warehouse, or industrial setting.
- Forklift operator certification or experience operating heavy machinery.
- Knowledge of different metal types and their properties.
- Valid UK driving license.
