Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Religious Education Coordinator to lead and enhance the delivery of RE across our affiliated schools in the Tamworth area. This pivotal role involves developing and implementing an engaging RE curriculum, supporting teaching staff, and ensuring our schools maintain high standards in fostering spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. The successful candidate will be instrumental in promoting a vibrant and inclusive RE environment that encourages critical thinking and respect for diverse beliefs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of an engaging and comprehensive Religious Education curriculum in line with diocesan guidelines and national standards.
  • Provide professional guidance, support, and training to teaching staff on RE pedagogy, resources, and assessment strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of RE teaching and learning, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Organize and facilitate collective worship and spiritual development activities within schools.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for Religious Education and collective worship.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes respect for all faiths and beliefs.
  • Liaise with parents, governors, and external religious and community leaders to enrich the RE experience.
  • Manage resources and budgets allocated for Religious Education.
  • Contribute to the broader pastoral care and ethos of the school community.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience teaching Religious Education, preferably at primary and secondary levels.
  • Strong understanding of RE curriculum development and assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to inspire and lead colleagues in a supportive and collaborative manner.
  • Commitment to upholding and promoting the Christian distinctiveness of our schools.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialization in Religious Education.
  • Master's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or Education with an RE focus.
  • Experience in a leadership or coordination role within a school setting.
  • Familiarity with the Church of England's vision for education and diocesan guidelines.
