Job Description

AECOM is seeking a skilled and dedicated Hydrogeologist with a strong focus on water management to join our dynamic team in Irvine, CA. This role will involve working on diverse projects related to groundwater resource evaluation, contaminant hydrogeology, water supply development, and aquifer management. The successful candidate will apply advanced hydrogeological principles to address complex water challenges, support environmental investigations, and contribute to sustainable water resource planning. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct groundwater investigations, including well design, drilling supervision, and aquifer testing.
  • Develop and apply hydrogeologic conceptual site models and numerical groundwater flow and transport models.
  • Analyze hydrogeologic data, including water levels, water quality, and pumping test data.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and proposals.
  • Manage project tasks, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Perform field work, including site reconnaissance, groundwater sampling, and monitoring well installation oversight.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, environmental scientists, and regulatory specialists.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations related to water resources.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in hydrogeology, with a focus on water management.
  • Demonstrated experience with groundwater modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW, MT3DMS, FEFLOW).
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) for data analysis and visualization.
  • Strong understanding of hydrogeological principles, groundwater flow, and contaminant transport.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct field work, including physically demanding tasks, in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with site characterization and remediation projects.
  • Familiarity with California water regulations and permitting processes.
  • Experience with data management and statistical analysis software.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling.
