Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced GIS Analysis Lead to drive our Spatial Data Engineering initiatives in Coventry. This role is crucial for developing, implementing, and managing advanced GIS solutions, overseeing spatial data pipelines, and leading a team of talented GIS analysts and engineers. You will be instrumental in translating complex business requirements into robust spatial data models and analytical workflows, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, actionable insights. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of geospatial technologies, data governance, and best practices in spatial data engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex GIS applications and spatial data infrastructure.
- Manage and mentor a team of GIS analysts and spatial data engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Develop and optimize spatial data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility.
- Conduct advanced geospatial analysis to derive meaningful insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to understand requirements and deliver tailored GIS solutions.
- Establish and enforce best practices for spatial data management, quality assurance, and metadata standards.
- Stay abreast of emerging GIS technologies, tools, and methodologies, recommending and implementing improvements.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and technical documentation of GIS projects and findings.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Suite (Pro, Enterprise) and/or QGIS.
- Strong experience with spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, Oracle Spatial).
- Expertise in programming languages for geospatial analysis (Python with libraries like GeoPandas, Shapely).
- Demonstrable experience with ETL processes for spatial data.
- Solid understanding of geospatial data models, projections, and coordinate systems.
- Proven leadership and team management experience in a GIS or spatial data environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in GIS, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud-based GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Online/Portal, Google Earth Engine, AWS Geospatial services).
- Familiarity with web mapping technologies (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox GL JS).
- Knowledge of remote sensing data processing and analysis.
- Certifications in GIS or data engineering (e.g., Esri Technical Certifications).
