Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to manage and maintain our critical corporate records databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and integrity of our sensitive data, playing a pivotal role in our data governance and compliance efforts. This position requires a strong understanding of database systems, data security best practices, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and maintain database servers and systems for corporate records, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Implement and manage database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and audit trails, to protect sensitive corporate data.
- Develop, implement, and test database backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity and data resilience.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries and system configurations for maximum efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal teams (legal, compliance, IT security) to ensure database systems adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Manage database schema changes, data migrations, and data archiving processes for long-term corporate record retention.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users and developers on database-related matters.
- Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices to recommend and implement improvements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on corporate records or highly sensitive data.
- Expertise in SQL and experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of database security principles, including access management, data encryption, and vulnerability assessment.
- Proficiency in database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Familiarity with data governance, compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, SOX), and regulatory requirements for data retention.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
- Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for database automation.
- Experience with document management systems or enterprise content management (ECM) platforms.
