Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Emergency Dispatch Assistant to join our critical Police & Fire Support team. This essential role is at the forefront of community safety, serving as the first point of contact for emergency situations and ensuring swift, accurate, and coordinated responses for both police and fire services within the Wodonga region. You will play a vital role in protecting lives and property by facilitating seamless communication between the public and emergency responders. This on-site position requires a calm demeanor, excellent communication skills, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and evaluate incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritizing based on urgency and nature of incident.
- Dispatch appropriate police and fire units to incident locations, providing accurate and timely information.
- Maintain clear and concise communication with field personnel, tracking their status and location.
- Record detailed information regarding incidents, actions taken, and unit responses in dispatch systems.
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency situations, as appropriate.
- Monitor multiple radio channels and communication systems simultaneously.
- Liaise with other emergency services agencies and external stakeholders as required.
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.
Required Skills

- Proficiency in basic computer applications and data entry.

- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
