Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Sewerage Maintenance Hand to join our essential services team. In this critical role, you will assist in the maintenance, repair, and inspection of our extensive sewerage network, ensuring its efficient operation and compliance with environmental standards. This is a hands-on position requiring a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions. You will play a crucial part in protecting public health and the environment for the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the inspection, cleaning, and unblocking of sewer mains and reticulation systems.
- Perform manual excavation and backfilling tasks around sewer infrastructure.
- Operate and maintain basic hand tools and small machinery as directed.
- Support skilled tradespersons with repair and construction activities on sewer assets.
- Conduct routine checks of manholes, pump stations, and treatment plant areas.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Participate in on-call and emergency response duties as required.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Required Skills
- Strong physical fitness and stamina for demanding manual labor.
- Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments and confined spaces.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures for working with hazardous materials.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- A valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in civil construction, laboring, or similar outdoor maintenance roles.
- Basic First Aid certification.
- White Card (general construction induction training).
- Confined Space entry certification.
- Knowledge of local area geography in Wagga Wagga and surrounds.
