Job Description

Anglicare NSW/ACT is seeking a Residential Support Worker for part-time night shifts in Belconnen, ACT. In this crucial role, you will provide essential overnight support and care to residents, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overnight supervision and support to residents, ensuring their safety and security.
  • Assist residents with personal care needs as required, maintaining dignity and respect.
  • Monitor resident well-being throughout the night and respond to any emergent needs or concerns.
  • Administer medication according to established protocols and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete routine household tasks and maintain a clean and organised living environment.
  • Document observations, incidents, and daily activities clearly and accurately.
  • Implement individual care plans and support residents in achieving their personal goals.
  • Communicate effectively with day staff, hand-over critical information, and participate in team meetings as required.
  • Adhere to all organisational policies, procedures, and relevant legislative requirements.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team during night shifts.
  • Strong observational skills and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to challenging situations.
  • Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License and access to reliable transport.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Disability, Aged Care, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a residential support, aged care, or disability setting, particularly with night shifts.
  • Knowledge of person-centred care principles and practices.
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse needs and backgrounds.
