Job Description
Woolworths Group is seeking a dedicated Supply Chain Sustainability Officer to champion and implement sustainable practices within our Tamworth-based supply chain operations. This role is crucial in reducing our environmental impact, ensuring ethical sourcing, and enhancing the overall resilience and transparency of our supply chain in the New England and North West region. You will be instrumental in driving our sustainability agenda forward, working closely with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve our ambitious environmental, social, and governance (ESG) targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sustainability initiatives across local supply chain operations, focusing on areas like waste reduction, energy efficiency, and responsible sourcing.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on key sustainability metrics (e.g., carbon emissions, water usage, waste diversion rates) specific to the Tamworth region and its supply chain.
- Conduct audits and assessments of local suppliers and partners to ensure compliance with Woolworths Group's ethical sourcing and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams (logistics, procurement, operations) and external partners (growers, transport providers) to identify opportunities for sustainable innovation and efficiency improvements.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and engaging presentations on sustainability performance and progress for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay informed on emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices within the retail and supply chain sectors, particularly those relevant to regional Australia.
- Lead or support sustainability-focused projects, ensuring timely delivery and measurable impact.
- Engage with local communities and industry groups to foster partnerships and promote sustainable practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in supply chain management, sustainability, environmental management, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for data interpretation and reporting.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with sustainability certifications or frameworks (e.g., ISO 14001, GHG Protocol, CDP).
- Familiarity with the regional agricultural and logistics contexts of New South Wales.
- Project management experience, particularly in implementing sustainability initiatives.
- Experience working for a large retail or logistics organization.
