Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically fit individual to join our team as a Livestock Feed Hand. This is a crucial, hands-on role within our agricultural operations, responsible for the daily feeding and care of livestock. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the health and well-being of our animals, contributing directly to the efficiency and success of our farm. This is a physically demanding role that requires reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. Weekly pay ensures a consistent income for your dedication.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute appropriate feed rations to various types of livestock daily, adhering to strict feeding schedules.
- Operate and maintain feed delivery equipment, including tractors and feed mixers, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness.
- Monitor livestock for signs of illness or injury, reporting any concerns to management promptly.
- Clean and maintain feeding areas, pens, and enclosures to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Assist with moving and handling livestock safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of feed consumption and stock levels.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and animal welfare protocols.
- Perform general farm duties as required, contributing to the overall upkeep of the facility.
Required Skills
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to lift heavy sacks and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
- Basic understanding of animal welfare and hygiene practices.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and equipment.
- Comfortable working around large animals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a farm or livestock environment.
- Experience operating agricultural machinery (e.g., tractors, forklifts).
- Full clean Irish driving license.
- Knowledge of different feed types and their nutritional value for livestock.
