Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Soil Testing Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to travel across regional South Australia, collecting soil samples and performing on-site preliminary tests. You will be an integral part of projects focused on agriculture, environmental assessment, and civil construction, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our data. Ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic, a passion for outdoor work, and a commitment to precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to various regional sites to collect soil samples according to established protocols.
  • Perform basic on-site tests such as pH, moisture content, and visual classification.
  • Accurately record and document all field data, observations, and sample details.
  • Ensure proper handling, packaging, and transportation of samples to the laboratory.
  • Maintain field equipment in good working order and ensure calibration when required.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during field operations.
  • Assist with data entry and preliminary report generation as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, laboratory staff, and clients.

Required Skills

  • Valid Australian Driver's License and ability to travel extensively.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively on the road.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Commitment to safety and environmental best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in field sampling, agriculture, or environmental monitoring.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Forklift license (preferred but not essential).
  • Relevant vocational training or a degree in environmental science, agriculture, geology, or a related field.
