Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically fit individual to join our dedicated team as a Part-time Tree Ground Crew member. This role is essential to our operations, supporting our arborists by performing critical ground-level tasks during tree removal, pruning, and maintenance projects. You will be working outdoors in various weather conditions, handling equipment, processing debris, and ensuring the safety of the work site. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who enjoys physical work, values teamwork, and is eager to learn about arboriculture.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist arborists with tree removal, pruning, and general tree care operations from the ground.
- Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment including chainsaws, wood chippers, stump grinders, and various hand tools (under supervision as appropriate).
- Drag branches and feed wood chippers safely and efficiently.
- Clean up job sites thoroughly, ensuring all debris is removed and the area is left tidy.
- Perform general maintenance on vehicles and equipment as required.
- Monitor safety on site, ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Support traffic control and public safety measures around work zones.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude while working as part of a team.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of power tools and equipment, or a willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar outdoor labor role, construction, or landscaping.
- Current Driver's License (manual highly regarded).
- Basic First Aid certification.
- Chainsaw operation experience or certification (a plus, but training will be provided).
- White Card (Construction Induction).
