Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Telecommunications Rigger to join our dedicated network operations team in Oxford. This ‘High Pay’ role is for a seasoned professional capable of working independently and leading on complex rigging projects. You will be instrumental in the installation, maintenance, and repair of our cutting-edge telecommunications equipment across various sites, ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency. This is a critical role responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of Vodafone’s advanced network.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault finding on telecommunications antennae, feeders, and associated equipment at height.
- Conduct pre-site surveys and risk assessments to ensure safe working practices and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Execute climbing duties on masts, towers, and rooftops using appropriate safety equipment and fall arrest systems.
- Install and connect various types of RF cabling, fibre optic cables, and associated components.
- Carry out testing and fault diagnosis on installed equipment, ensuring optimal performance and connectivity.
- Lead and mentor junior rigging team members, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Complete all necessary documentation, including site reports, health and safety forms, and project logs accurately and on time.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency network response as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Telecommunications Rigger, specifically with mobile network infrastructure.
- Valid IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) or equivalent working at height certification.
- Advanced climbing and rescue techniques proficiency.
- Strong understanding of RF principles, fibre optics, and associated test equipment.
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations pertaining to rigging and telecommunications work.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Full UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Telecommunications or a related field.
- Experience with 5G deployment and upgrades.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Confined Space entry certification.
- Leadership or supervisory experience in a rigging team.
