Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Lifestyle Assistant to join our residential care team in Katherine. In this rewarding role, you will be instrumental in creating a vibrant and engaging environment for our residents, supporting their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. You will develop and deliver a diverse range of activities and programs tailored to individual interests and abilities, promoting independence, choice, and dignity. This role requires a creative, empathetic individual with a genuine passion for working with seniors and a commitment to person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging group and individual lifestyle activities for residents.
- Assess residents' interests, abilities, and needs to develop personalised activity programs.
- Encourage resident participation and engagement in all activities, adapting approaches as necessary.
- Organise and facilitate outings, special events, and community connections.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with care staff, families, and volunteers to enhance the resident experience.
- Ensure activities comply with all relevant safety and quality standards.
- Support residents with their personal goals and preferences, promoting their independence.
- Assist with mealtime experiences and other daily living activities as required.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within aged care or community services.
- Strong understanding of person-centred care principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Ability to plan, organise, and facilitate engaging activities for diverse groups.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and program planning.
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with individuals living with dementia.
- Knowledge of local community resources and services in Katherine.
- Ability to speak a local Aboriginal language or other community languages.
