Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Facilities Management Intern to join our dynamic team in Footscray, Melbourne. This internship provides an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the operational management of commercial properties. You will work alongside experienced Facilities Managers, learning the intricacies of building systems, tenant relations, vendor management, and health and safety compliance within a corporate environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about property, infrastructure, and creating optimal working environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Facilities Managers with daily operational tasks and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Participate in site inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Support the coordination of service providers and contractors for repairs, maintenance, and projects.
  • Learn to manage tenant requests and contribute to maintaining high levels of tenant satisfaction.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records, including work orders, service reports, and asset registers.
  • Contribute to cost management initiatives and budget tracking for facility services.
  • Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives within commercial buildings.
  • Research and present on best practices in facilities management and smart building technologies.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree/diploma program in Facilities Management, Property Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in commercial real estate and facilities operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Previous experience (academic or professional) in a customer service environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to commercial properties.
  • Valid driver's license.
