Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated School Business Manager to lead the financial and operational management of All Hallows’ School. This critical role requires a strategic leader with a strong financial background to oversee all business aspects of the school, including finance, human resources, facilities management, risk management, and administrative services. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal and Board to ensure the long-term financial sustainability and operational efficiency of the school, supporting its mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, payroll, and audit preparation.
  • Manage the school's assets, properties, and facilities, ensuring a safe, compliant, and well-maintained environment.
  • Develop and implement strategic financial plans aligned with the school's educational objectives.
  • Manage human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and policy adherence.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements, including financial and WHS obligations.
  • Lead and manage a team of administrative and support staff.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and service providers.
  • Provide high-level advice and support to the Principal and School Board on financial and operational matters.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a senior financial or business management role, preferably within the education sector or a similar non-profit organisation.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic business plans.
  • High level of proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., WHS, HR, financial compliance) in Australia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Experience with school management systems and accounting software specific to educational institutions.
  • Knowledge of independent school governance and operational best practices.
