Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Quality Control Chemist to join our manufacturing lab in Byron Bay. In this essential on-site role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of our chemical products through rigorous testing and analysis. You will work closely with production teams, applying your expertise to uphold our commitment to excellence and compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine chemical and physical analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment including GC, HPLC, UV/Vis spectrophotometers, pH meters, viscometers, and titrators.
  • Record and interpret analytical data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with specified methods and quality standards.
  • Identify and investigate out-of-specification results, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, logs, and documentation according to GLP/GMP principles.
  • Collaborate with production, R&D, and quality assurance teams to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality control or analytical lab within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation (GC, HPLC, UV/Vis).
  • Strong understanding of GLP/GMP guidelines and quality management systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the paints, coatings, or chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards.
