Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Parcel Sorter to join our team for the challenging yet rewarding Midnight Shift in Carnarvon. This crucial role involves sorting various sizes of parcels and mail items efficiently and accurately, ensuring they reach their correct destinations on time. Due to the demanding nature of the shift and the importance of timely delivery, this position offers high penalty rates. You will be an integral part of our logistics operation, contributing directly to our commitment to reliable service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort parcels and mail items into designated areas or cages based on postcode and delivery route.
- Operate conveyor belts and other sorting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Lift and move parcels of varying weights and sizes, adhering to manual handling guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment within the sorting facility.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve sorting targets and deadlines.
- Report any damaged parcels or operational issues to supervisors promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to work consistent midnight shifts (e.g., 10 PM to 6 AM).
- Physical fitness and capability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift parcels weighing up to 25 kg.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sorting.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or sorting environment.
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques and safety procedures.
